18th International Workshop on Meson Physics
KRAKÓW, POLAND
25th - 30th June 2026

The Institute of Physics of Jagiellonian University, GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, INFN-LNF Frascati and Institute of Nuclear Physics PAS Cracow are organizing a biennial workshop to establish closer contacts between experimentalists and theorists involved in the studies of meson production, properties and interaction. The workshop will cover lectures on both experimental and theoretical aspects, in particular the presentation of new results.

The main topics of the workshop are:

  • hadronic and electromagnetic meson production,
  • meson interaction with mesons, baryons, ground state nuclei as well as hot and dense nuclear matter,
  • structure of hadrons,
  • precision measurements as tests of fundamental symmetries,
  • exotic systems in QCD,
  • novel approaches in theory and experiment.

The intention is to provide an overview of the present status in these fields, as well as of new developments, and a preview of the forthcoming investigations. This workshop - the eighteenth of the series - will maintain the tradition of the workshops organized since 1991 at Cracow. The proceedings of the MESON2023 workshop have been published in EPJ Web of Conferences 291 (2024).

Satellite workshops

Just before the MESON 2026 conference, June 23-24, the satellite workshop Hadron Physics with AntiMatter Probes (HAMP 2026), will be organised at Auditorium Maximum JU in Kraków. The workshop is devoted to discussions on opportunities for hadron physics and adjacent topics with antiproton and antideuteron beams at e.g. J-PARC, CERN and FAIR. The workshop is a second in what we hope will be a series; the first one took place at J-PARC in Japan 2025. More information will follow soon.

The week leading up to HAMP 2026 will be packed with events at the 66th Cracow School of Theoretical Physics and WE Heraeus Physics School. The Cracow School of Theoretical Physics is organized yearly since 1961. The main idea of the School consists in reviewing the important results in particle and nuclear physics, both experimental and theoretical focusing on speci/ic topics that are chosen each year by the Organizing Committee. The School is typically organized in mid-June and lasts 5-8 days, this time from 14th to 29th June.

Note that in the week following the meeting, the XVII Quark Confinement and Hadron Spectrum conference will be held at the University of Wrocław, Poland, between June 29th and July 4th, 2026.

In two weeks following the conference, the XIIIth Meeting on Lattice Parton Physics from Large Momentum Effective Theory (LaMET 2026) will be held at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, from 6th to 9th July 2026.
